In urban streetscapes bamboo, along with many other plants, find's a rather useful place inn street planters when networks of CULTURALlandscapers become'activists' cum ecoNETWORKERS.
Raised WIKIplanter are ideal for bamboo planting, even large 'timber' bamboo species. It has been noted by an arborist that given that bamboo:
- can thrive in appropriate planter; and
- that the plant footprint can be relatively small; and consequently
- BAMBOOboulevard is a possibility because the plant can be temporarily relocated to enable below ground infrastructure; and
- Likewise temporary screen can be erected in front of long term construction sites if an off site exists to hold advance plants; and
- Such planters could also be used as bollards to facilitate traffic calming, and street closures for events such as markets, festivals etc.
